Satyricon is by some described as the undisputed "King" of Norwegian metal and we are exceptionally grateful that Satyricon is doing a show at the Motstøy Festival ' 08. Satyricon has been ahead of the development of Norwegian Extreme Metal. Satyricon is continuing to move boundaries and doing unexpected things, which results in continual regenerating of the band' s style. Shortly after the release of "My Skin Is Cold" in October 2008, Satyricon will visit the Motstøy Festival. Gorgoroth is one of the headliners at Motstøy ' 08. The band is well-known within the Norwegian Black Metal. Gorgoroth goes back a long way, but recently the band has gone through changes and discords, where it among other things has been a conflict regarding the band-name. It is the Gaahl-version of Gorgoroth who' s visiting Motstøy in October. We are looking forward to present True Norwegian Black Metal to the festival-audience, and Gorgoroth is getting the honor to end the Motstøy Festival ' 08!

Med gitarist, vokalist og komponist Roine Stolt i spissen, er svenske Flower Kings av mange sett på som et av de ledende banda innenfor sjangeren progressiv rock / pop. Bandet er siden 1990-tallet blitt sett på som et fenomen innen det progressive miljøet og har siden gitt ut rundt 10 skiver og flere dvd-er. This is a progressive metal band from Sweden, whose inspiration-source is the progressive rock from the 70' s. Until today, they have released five studio albums which have brought them very good mentions in different medias. The band is touring in big parts of the world and will visit Motstøy this fall with their dark progressive music. It is a pleasure to introduce this band at Motstøy ' 08!

Motstøy is proud to announce the Norwegian band Shining, a band which started as an experimental jazz band, is now to be found in the diverse land between jazz, metal and progressive rock. Shining is awarded with an “Alarmpris" and nominated to “Spellemann" in open class. With a mix of progressive rock, jazz and references from King Crimson, Shining is doing all the illegal efforts to make sure it will be a beaming and surprising experience at Motstøy in October.

Motstøy kan stolt presentere norske Shining, bandet som startet som et eksperimentelt jazzband, beveger seg i grenselandet mellom jazz, metall og prog-rock. Vreid is a Norwegian metalband which was founded after the tragically death of the bands previous vocalist when the band was named Windir. Since then Vreid has released two studio-albums which has had great success in Europe. During their carrier, Vreid has managed to built a solid fan base within the Norwegian Black Metal-society and they will not let down the audience at Motstøy ' 08!

Vreid er et norsk metallband som ble startet opp etter det tragiske dødsfallet til bandets tidligere vokalist da bandet gikk under navnet Windir. Vreid har siden gitt ut to studioalbum som hatt stor suksess i Europa. Koldbrann was founded in 2001 and since then they have released two albums, three EP' s and one live-DVD. Koldbrann describes their music as “ugly, dissonant and hateful Norwegian Black Metal". They are by many described as a very solid live-band and hopefully they won' t let the Motstøy-audience down!

Koldbrann ble grunnlagt i 2001 og har siden den gang gitt ut blant annet to album, tre ep' er og en live-dvd. De har høstet god kritikk for å være et særdeles kult liveband. Om seg selv sier bandet at de spiller såkalt "stygg, disharmonisk og hatefull norsk black metal".

This is a new band consisting of young members, but to this day they have released two studioalbums, from which they have received good critics. During the last years Benea Reach has been playing several places in Norway and they are now known for their wild concerts. With its hardcore and metal-inspired music they are due to capture the audience at several festivals this summer. Luckily they are visiting Motstøy too!

Musically they are inspired by the 1970' s progressive rock, but they are not afraid of mixing in some metal in their songs. They quit in 2006, but only a few months later they decided to continue. Bandet er hovedsaklig inspirert av 70-tallets progressive rock, men de blander ofte inn litt metal i det de komponerer. De la opp i 2006, men bare noen måneder senere bestemte de seg for å fortsette. Dette er et originalt og særegent band som vi gleder oss til å presentere for Motstøypublikumet!

Leprous is a relatively young band from Notodden that are playing progressive rock and metal with a great amount of originality in what they are composing. In 2006 their first album “Aeolia" was recorded, which received very good reviews. This upcoming fall they are due to record a new album in Sweden, and at Motstøy in October they will perform their new material!

In Salvo is from Notodden , and are playing progressive metal with a capital M. Musically they get a lot of inspiration from progressive rock and metalhardcore, and they are pretty full of energy when performing live. Their likening in performing concerts is obvious and hopefully the band will give people at Motstøy ' 08 a good experience.

In Salvo er et ungt band fra Notodden som spiller progressiv metal med stor M. Musikalsk sett henter de blant annet mye inspirasjon fra progressiv rock og metallhardcore, og på scenen er de nokså energiske av seg. Det er tydelig at de liker å stå på scenen å fremføre sine egne låter og forhåpentligvis vil denne gleden smitte over på publikum!

Wintergrave was founded in Skien/Porsgrunn the winter of 2007, by some young musicians who wanted to make a black metal band with progressive and symphonic elements. Since they all like different types of music, they have managed to find their own sound playing together in Wintergrave. Despite their short time of playing together and their young age, they really impressed the Motstøøy-jury and won the demo-competition.

Wintergrave ble formet vinteren 2007 i Skien/Porsgrunn, av tre unge musikere som ville lage et black metal band med progressive og symfoniske elementer. Alle medlemmene liker forskjellige musikkstiler, og de blander inn dette i det de lager. Til tross for deres korte tid sammen i Wintergrave og deres unge alder klarte de å imponere Motstøy-juryen nok til å vinne demokonkurransen!

Lillith, a band from Oslo/Vestfold, is crossing several genres and their music can be described as garage 70s-music. The band is one out of two who won this years competition for unsigned bands, and they impressed us with their demo which is recorded on the "old way", where everybody plays together during recording. With songwriter and singer Camilla Hell, which also plays on a musical saw, Lillith will be an original element on Motstøy 2008

Lillith er et band som kommer fra Oslo/Vestfold som krysser flere sjangere og kan best beskrives som garasjepreget 70-tallsmusikk. Bandet er ett av to som vant årets konkurranse for demoband, og de imponerte stort med sin demo som er spilt inn på "gamlemåten", der alle spiller "live" sammen under opptak. Med låtskriver og vokalist Camilla Hell, som også spiller på sag, vil Lillith være et originalt innslag under årets Motstøyfestival!
